Imagine living your ideal life right now. The planets align, you achieve all your goals, everything is as you imagine when you think about your ideal life… What does it look like? What does it feel like? Enter that feeling for a moment. What makes you feel what you feel in your ideal life? Is it the stuff around you? Or the people around you? Does it come from outside yourself or inside? How are you thinking when you feel the way you want to feel in your ideal life?
If you’re like me, when you are feeling great about life, you’re focused on what’s good. You notice what’s going well and working well. Your possibilities look open, numerous and exciting. And the negative things drift to the periphery.
Notice that it’s not that the negatives in life are completely gone (that’s never going to happen!), they are just not the focus of attention.
And therein lies the key! We don’t have to wait until all our goals and circumstances are exactly the way we imagine for our ideal life. We can adopt the feel of our ideal life by shifting our thoughts (our mindset) toward the mindset we would have if we were actually living our ideal life! Amazingly, when we start thinking the way we would where we want to be, we start finding ourself realizing our ideal life isn’t so much about our circumstances but about what we are focusing on and thinking about no matter what’s going on around us. When we focus on what’s right, what’s wrong shifts out of focus and we begin to feel lighter, more joyful and more excited about life and possibilities.
Notice what you focus on today. As you notice your focus going negative, ask yourself, “what is 1 good thing right now that I can be thankful for?” And focus your attention on the good in that 1 thing.
